Philips prices EU Green Bond under new standard
Royal Philips priced a 650 million euro fixed-rate note due 2034 under its European Medium Term Note program, marking the healthcare sector’s first EU Green Bond under the new European Green Bond Standard. The issue carries a 99.655% price, a 4.0% coupon, and yields about 4.055%, with the 7.8-year tranche oversubscribed by roughly 2.7 times. Settlement and listing are planned for August 28, 2026, with the notes set to trade on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Philips said the issuance will not raise net debt, though gross debt will temporarily rise until the 2027 bond is repaid. Proceeds will finance taxonomy-aligned activities to support Philips’ 2030 impact ambitions, reinforcing its sustainability credentials. The company also emphasized its commitment to maintaining investment-grade credit ratings (BBB+/BBB+/Baa1).
