Measles Claims First PA Deaths in 35 Years

Two unvaccinated Lancaster County residents in Pennsylvania have died from measles, marking the state's first measles-related deaths in 35 years. The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported about 393 cases across 28 to 29 counties in 2026. Health officials, including Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen, noted that measles was largely eliminated for decades and emphasized the MMR vaccine as the best protection against the virus.
