India has begun a multi-tonne aid effort to bolster Kenya’s Ebola preparedness, with the first tranche of 4.5 tonnes of medical supplies delivered to Nairobi and handed to Health Secretary Aden Duale. The 279-package shipment includes PPE, sample transport kits, infrared thermometers, face shields and other infection-prevention items, with a second tranche expected soon. The aid is framed as a long-term contribution to resilient public health preparedness, supporting the Kenya National Public Health Institute and frontline institutions in disease surveillance, sample handling, and infection prevention to protect healthcare workers. This latest delivery follows earlier Indian support of more than 45 tonnes of supplies to the Africa CDC in May and June 2026 as part of Africa-wide Ebola readiness efforts. The partnership underscores growing India–Kenya health cooperation, with High Commissioner Adarsh Swaika presenting the goods to Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Health, Aden Duale, at JKIA.
