Hyundai Plans 1.27M Capacity, 100+ Models by 2030
Hyundai Motor plans to boost global production capacity by 1.27 million units by 2030 and roll out over 100 new or refreshed models, including 18 all-new ones, as part of a major product push. The push is focused on North America, with more than half of the launches targeted there and 58 of the new/updated models earmarked for the U.S. The automaker is aiming for 5.55 million global sales by 2030 and a 60% share of electrified vehicles, supported by expanding hybrid and EV offerings such as the Santa Fe extended-range electric vehicle at its Alabama plant. Hyundai also plans to accelerate software-defined vehicles and autonomous driving development and to begin supplying Ioniq 5-based robotaxis to Waymo in Q4 this year. The company targets an operating margin above 9% by 2030 as part of a broader effort to improve financial performance amid intensifying competition from Chinese brands and mixed demand for pure EVs. This broad diversification strategy signals a shift toward more hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and new market segments to sustain growth.
