Houthis claim strikes on Saudi oil tanker, troop concentrations

The Houthi movement claimed multiple attacks in the Red Sea region, including strikes on a Saudi oil tanker named Amzan and on Saudi troop concentrations in eastern Yemen, using missiles and drones. They said the tanker attack caused a fire and that other ships withdrew, while the strikes on convoys in Hadramout and on positions near the Marib–Al-Jawf border reportedly killed or injured dozens and damaged depots. Separately, Houthis asserted they attacked a vessel off Yanbu, with a televised statement reinforcing the claim as regional tensions rise around Yemen’s coastline. Saudi authorities and maritime trackers reported a tanker being struck west of Yanbu, with all crew reportedly safe and no environmental impact, underscoring the ongoing risk to Red Sea shipping. In Yemen, the Saudi artillery fire hit villages in Razih after Yemeni forces downed a ScanEagle drone over Hajjah province, illustrating the renewed cross-border hostilities. The Yemeni army meanwhile said it launched drone strikes on Houthi positions, signaling a sharp back-and-forth in the conflict as regional actors remain on high alert.
