IOAD Events Expand Nationwide with New Activities

Around International Overdose Awareness Day, communities nationwide are hosting remembrance events that pair vigils with lifesaving resources to prevent overdoses. The expanded slate includes OhioCAN’s Youngstown event with speakers, resource tables, Narcan training, and a candlelight vigil, and North Little Rock’s Hope Movement Coalition Bridge the Gap with Angel Banners and survivor testimonies. Florida hosts an inaugural recovery open mic as part of IOAD activities. Northampton, Massachusetts hosts a candlelight vigil featuring Narcan distribution, while Mount Sinai, New York offers Naloxone training and memorial elements. Virginia communities, including Hampton and Newport News, provide REVIVE overdose response trainings alongside local resource access. Regions such as the Delaware Valley, Oshkosh, Reno, and other areas continue with vigils, walks, and arts-based programs under the IOAD 25 Years On theme, emphasizing remembrance, reduced stigma, and expanded access to prevention resources.
