Georgia duo sentenced for $9.4 million Amazon fraud

Two Georgia women, Brittany Hudson and Kayricka Wortham, were sentenced in a fraud scheme that prosecutors say netted Amazon nearly $10 million through more than 1,000 fake vendor invoices during six months in 2022. Wortham, an Amazon warehouse operations manager, and Hudson, who ran a delivery company contracted with Amazon, allegedly used the funds to buy a luxury home and upscale cars, with prosecutors saying the money was spent on those assets. While out on bond in 2023, the pair allegedly attempted to defraud another company, including Hudson forging a federal judge’s signature in a failed bid to cover additional losses. Hudson received a sentence of about 16 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole, and Wortham was previously sentenced to 17 years, with both ordered to repay Amazon and forfeit the home, vehicles, and related assets. Federal authorities described the case as a brazen, organized fraud operation that was halted by the investigation and ensuing prosecutions. The sentences close the book on a high-profile scheme that defendants and prosecutors say exploited a major online retailer for millions of dollars.
