China completed 92 space launches in 2025, with commercial missions accounting for more than half, a milestone that is reshaping demand in the country’s high-end machine tool sector. Of the launches, 50 were commercial, representing 54% of the total, and as the cadence accelerates the bottleneck has shifted from rocket know-how to manufacturing capacity, raising questions about building fast, cheap, and reliable systems at scale. This shift is driving upstream ripple effects, with critical components like rocket engines and specialty bearings demanding extreme precision and fueling sustained demand for five-axis CNC machine tools and advanced cutting tools. Commercial aerospace is transforming the customer base for high-end machine tools, moving from a few state-backed projects to real-world, high-volume production scenarios that affect tooling design and after-sales service. The trend is accelerated by reusable rocket programs and low-orbit constellation projects, pushing toward turning rockets from engineering projects into industrial products and opening a high-value frontier for domestically produced CNC tools. Analysts from Pacific Securities say commercial aerospace offers broad development prospects for advanced manufacturers, especially those with strong tech moats and close supply-chain ties, capable of rapid iteration and cost reduction.
