Factorial Energy Secures First Commercial Drone Battery Order
Factorial Energy announced its first commercial drone battery order, marking its entry into the commercial aerospace sector. The deal involves high-energy-density lithium-metal cells to be integrated into packs by a U.S.-based integrator, establishing a supply chain for demanding drone applications. Following successful system integration and drone flight testing, the drone trials reported more than a 30% range improvement over existing technology. The company is leveraging its solid-state battery platform to expand beyond automotive use, building on prior automotive partnerships and investor support from entities like In-Q-Tel. CEO Siyu Huang highlighted the rapid six-month development timeline from product concept to first purchase, underscoring the speed of this pivot into aerospace. Factorial’s broader strategy envisions scaling across drones, autonomous aviation, space, and defense as it pursues additional aerospace opportunities.
