Amazon Expands Prime Air to 500 Cities by 2026
Amazon announced a sixfold expansion of its Prime Air drone delivery to nearly 500 cities and towns by the end of 2026, up from 11 sites. Rollout will begin in Chicago, Syracuse, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Boise, with additional communities added later in 2026. Drones can carry up to 5 pounds and deliver in as little as 30 minutes, though most deliveries are about an hour after checkout. Prime members get free delivery on orders over $50; smaller Prime orders cost $2.99, while non-members pay $4.99. Amazon says more than 60% of frequently purchased items qualify for drone delivery, signaling a shift toward ultrafast logistics. The company notes ongoing safety and regulatory considerations after past drone incidents, while expanding warehouses and fleets to reach tens of millions of customers with 30-minute windows.
