Asheville Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves One Man Dead on Nancy Street
An officer-involved shooting on Nancy Street in Asheville early Aug. 27 resulted in one fatality after police responded to multiple reports of a breaking and entering. Officers encountered a man armed with a knife inside the residence and, after he refused commands to drop the weapon, opened fire; the suspect died from his injuries at Mission Hospital. No officers were injured during the incident. The Asheville Police Department said the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation will lead the investigation under department protocol.
