Trump wrote about Giant Eagle’s prices in a post on Truth Social Sunday.
“I have just been informed that Giant Eagle, a GREAT American Grocery Company, will be lowering Prices, by a lot, across more than 300 products this Summer, through Labor Day, to help hardworking American families,” the president wrote.
“Giant Eagle, like Walmart, is stepping up in a big and bold way to answer my call to lower costs for working families,” he wrote.
Giant Eagle has stores in northern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.
On July 9,Giant Eagle lowered prices on an array of products like beef and American cheese.
The goal is to increase value perception for customers.
Earlier this month, Walmart and Sam’s Club announced price cuts on thousands of grocery items and deals on popular foods like ground beef, produce, snacks and soft drinks.
The move comes as the current Trump administration faces concerns about the rise in cost for food, gas and oil.
