Nick Reiner has been indicted on Murder charges in the deaths of his parents, Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, with prosecutors adding special circumstance allegations that could carry severe penalties if he is convicted.

According to the New York Post, Reiner, 33, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two counts of Murder after the grand jury indictment was unsealed. The case now moves toward trial, with Reiner scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing Sept. 15.

The indictment alleges multiple murders and Murder by means of lying in wait. Prosecutors also accuse Reiner of personally using a knife as a deadly weapon.

The filing further alleges that the killings involved "great violence, great bodily harm, threat of great bodily harm, or other acts disclosing a high degree of cruelty, viciousness, or calousness." The victims are also described as "particularly vulnerable."

"This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing," Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said.

Reiner is accused of killing his 78-year-old father and 70-year-old mother inside their Brentwood home on Dec. 14, 2025.

Their deaths sent shock waves through Hollywood, and Reiner was arrested hours after the couple was found dead at their home.

Investigators have focused on events leading up to the killings.

Sources previously told The Post that Reiner and his parents had a "very loud argument" at a holiday party hosted by Conan O'Brien shortly before their deaths.

Reiner also reportedly had an altercation with comedian Bill Hader at the gathering and left the event.

If convicted on all charges, Reiner could face life in prison without parole or the death penalty. Prosecutors have not yet decided whether they will seek capital punishment.

The criminal case is unfolding alongside a dispute over Reiner's family trust. Reiner filed a petition in June seeking access to money he says he was supposed to receive after turning 30 in 2023.

According to the petition, Reiner was supposed to receive half of the trust outright at age 30, with the remaining portion becoming available when he turned 35. He accused the current trustee of delaying the distribution and citing concerns about his ability to manage the money.

The trust dispute has also become relevant to Reiner's defense.

Attorney Alan Jackson withdrew from the Murder case after a payment dispute, leaving Reiner represented by public defender Kimberly Greene.

A hearing on the trust matter is expected next week as the Murder prosecution moves forward.
