An emotional week of testimony began Monday in the case against the man accused of killing Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, as a former campus police officer described witnessing the fatal shooting.

According to the New York Post, Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk's widow, attended the hearing and was seen leaving the courtroom alongside Kirk's parents and other family members after the proceedings.

The hearing centers on 23-year-old Robinson, who is accused in the September killing.

The purpose of the proceeding is to determine whether prosecutors have presented enough evidence for the case to move forward to Trial

Former campus police officer Chris Bagley was among the first witnesses called to testify. He told the court he heard a rifle shot during an event at Utah Valley University before seeing Charlie Kirk collapse.

Bagley's testimony marked the beginning of what is expected to be several days of witness statements as prosecutors outline their case against Robinson.

Robinson appeared in court wearing a gray suit. His wrists were shackled to a chain around his waist as he listened to testimony.

Throughout the hearing, Robinson remained largely expressionless, occasionally taking notes while witnesses testified.

Judge Tony Graf addressed courtroom procedures during the hearing, reminding those in attendance that anyone who left the courtroom would be permitted to return when the court reconvened.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled to continue throughout the week.

If the judge determines that prosecutors have presented sufficient evidence, Robinson will be ordered to stand trial on the charges related to Charlie Kirk's death.

Monday's testimony focused on the moments surrounding the shooting, with Bagley providing a firsthand account of what he witnessed after hearing the gunshot that interrupted the campus event.

Family members remained in attendance as the court heard the opening testimony in what is expected to be a closely watched case.

The hearing does not determine Robinson's guilt or innocence.

Instead, it will decide whether the prosecution has established enough evidence for the criminal case to proceed to a jury Trial.
