Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is firing back at comedian Trevor Noah for appearing to suggest that he attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
During a press conference on Monday, DeSantis said, “So, I never, I would never attend that. I have no interest in that. I did not watch it. I don’t care what they do.”
“But for them to advertise me when that invitation was rejected by my office, that is a lie. And so here they are saying how important they are that they’re somehow these paragons of truth, and yet there they are lying about something that is readily verifiable,” he continued.
Finally, DeSantis added, “The idea that I was there is false. The idea that I would have ever gone is false, and why they would want try to perpetuate a lie about that, I don’t know.”

During the event on Saturday, Noah took a shot at DeSantis.
“There’s many big names here tonight,” Noah said as he appeared to suggest that the Florida governor was in attendance.
“One of my favorites, Ron Desantis is here. Yeah, yeah. Oh man, I’m actually surprised that he found the time. He’s been so busy trying to outmaneuver Trump for 2024. I see you, Ron. I see you, player,” he continued.
He added, “What I like about Ron Desantis is, if Trump was the original Terminator, DeSantis is the T-1000. You’re smarter than him. You’re slicker than him. You can walk down ramps.”
In case you missed it:
Politico reported Monday, “DeSantis’ name was included in the event’s program even though he was not in attendance.”
During the same event, Noah also made some jokes about President Joe Biden.
“I think everyone will agree that it’s actually nice to have a president who’s not afraid to come to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and hear jokes about himself,” Noah said.
He continued, “I’ll be honest if you didn’t come, I totally would have understood because these people have been so hard on you. Which I don’t get. I really don’t. I think ever since you’ve come into office, things are really looking up.”
“Gas is up. Rent is up. Food is up. Everything,” he added.
