Bombshell Testimony Details Alleged Confessions in Charlie Kirk Killing

Newly released testimony and evidence presented during a preliminary hearing provide the most detailed account yet of the prosecution's case against Tyler Robinson.

Prosecutors say the man accused of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk confessed three separate times after the killing, according to testimony and evidence presented during a preliminary hearing in Utah.

Tyler Robinson, 23, is charged in the Sept. 10, 2025, killing of the Turning Point USA founder during an event at Utah Valley University, per the New York Post.

Robinson has not entered a plea and could face the death penalty if convicted.

One of the hearing's key witnesses was Robinson's roommate and romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, who testified under a grant of limited immunity from federal and local prosecutors. Twiggs is not accused of any wrongdoing.

According to prosecutors, the first alleged confession came through an automated text message Robinson sent shortly after the shooting.

Twiggs testified that the message instructed him to look beneath Robinson's keyboard, where he found a handwritten letter allegedly stating, "I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk

and I'm going to take it."

Court records show Twiggs initially questioned whether Robinson was serious before receiving additional messages that prosecutors say amounted to another confession.

According to the testimony, Robinson allegedly wrote, "I am, I'm sorry," after Twiggs asked whether he was responsible for the shooting.

Twiggs also testified that Robinson returned to their apartment the following day and admitted the messages were true.

During that conversation, Twiggs said Robinson became emotional and told him he wished he had not carried out the shooting.

"He wishes he hadn't done it," Twiggs testified, adding that Robinson said he intended to speak with his parents or surrender to authorities.

Prosecutors also presented testimony that Robinson had asked about borrowing a Dremel engraving tool about a month before the shooting.

Twiggs said Robinson claimed he wanted to engrave messages on bullets before a hunting trip with family members.

Investigators testified that Twiggs' courtroom statements were consistent with an interview he gave police shortly after the shooting.

Prosecutors also introduced text messages, Discord communications and the handwritten note allegedly written by Robinson.

Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, urged the court to release Twiggs' recorded testimony publicly, arguing it would help counter conspiracy theories surrounding her husband's death. She became emotional as portions of the evidence were presented in court.

Prosecutors also introduced surveillance video, FBI forensic analysis and DNA evidence they say ties Robinson to the crime scene, including DNA allegedly recovered from a towel used to conceal the rifle and a screwdriver found near the alleged shooting position.

The preliminary hearing is expected to conclude before a judge determines whether the case will move forward to Trial.
