President Joe Biden struggled to get through a portion of his remarks about inflation.
Speaking on Tuesday afternoon, the president said, “They talk about inflation. You know we’re dealing with… inflation is a worldwide problem right now because of a war in Iraq and the impact on oil and what Russia’s doing.”
“I mean, excuse me… the war in Ukraine,” Biden said as he caught himself.

Before moving on, Biden then tried to explain why he apparently confused the Iraq War with Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“I’m thinking about Iraq because that’s where my son died,” he said.
Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015.
The president has previously suggested his son’s cancer may have been linked to the burning of waste at U.S. military installations in Iraq.
Beau Biden served in Iraq in 2009 at two bases that used burn pits.
“Science has recognized there are certain carcinogens when people are exposed to them,” Joe Biden told PBS’ Judy Woodruff in a 2018 interview.
He added, “Depending on the quantities and the amount in the water and the air, can have a carcinogenic impact on the body.”
Still, he noted he was not aware of “any direct scientific evidence” linking the burn pits to Beau Biden’s cancer.
Less than a month ago, the president also claimed his son died in Iraq, as IJR reported.

Biden has previously blamed inflation on Russia’s war on Ukraine. And his comments after the latest report found inflation hit 8.2% in September.
During the same event, Biden also claimed he once spoke to the inventor of insulin. Frederick Banting, the discoverer of insulin, died in 1941. A year before the 46th president was born.
