Former Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is the new of the United Kingdom.
Burnham assumed the position Monday following the resignation of his predecessor, Keir Starmer.
King Charles III invited Burnham to form a new government, as is tradition. The two met at Buckingham Palace Monday when Burnham became the new Prime Minister.
Burnham won a seat in Parliament earlier this month with 55% of the vote. He immediately ran to replace Starmer as Labour Party leader.
Burnham is the seventh U.K. prime minister since 2016.
"We will change politics, to make it more collaborative, more about problem-solving than point scoring," Burnham said
