ACE Robotics Plans 2027 ChatGPT Moment, 1,000 Stores
ACE Robotics’ chairman, Wang Xiaogang, forecasts a ChatGPT-level breakthrough in embodied AI by the end of 2027, with broad commercial deployment likely four to five years afterward, driven by world models and more extensive real-world data. The company highlights Kairos, a 4-billion-parameter world model, and efforts to collect diverse training data to enable robots to understand environments, predict future states, and act autonomously, aiming for intelligence that works outside fixed instructions. He also cautions that while the inflection point may arrive soon, widespread, safe usage in factories, stores, or homes will take more time due to real-world variability and data quality challenges. In contrast, Unitree CEO Wang Xingxing argues the industry’s ChatGPT moment could come as soon as two to three years at the fastest and up to five to ten years at the slowest, noting users will require robots to handle most tasks in unfamiliar environments via voice or text. This framing shows diverging timelines across leaders in robotics, even as both emphasize rapid AI-driven progress and the importance of real-world deployment over novelty demonstrations. Overall, the discourse underscores substantial optimism about embodied AI’s potential while highlighting practical hurdles and varying estimates for when wide-scale impact will arrive.
