Tyson to Close Plants, Sell Pasco; 2,500 Jobs Affected
Tyson Foods announced a restructuring that closes the Joslin, Illinois beef plant and the Eagle Mountain, Utah case-ready facility, and puts the Pasco, Washington beef plant up for sale, concentrating operations at three central facilities in Nebraska, Kansas and Texas and adding a second shift at Amarillo as cattle supply allows. The move, driven by ongoing cattle shortages, will shift production to remaining plants with affected workers offered help transferring to other locations.
