Bangladesh Bank eases forex rules for freelancers nationwide

Bangladesh Bank announced new circulars to ease foreign exchange transactions for freelancers and individual service exporters, expanding digital payment access and simplifying documentation. The rules allow small-value inward remittances up to $20,000, permit up to $10,000 per transaction via online payment gateways, increase exporters’ retention quotas to 50% for ICT firms and 30% for others, and broaden the use of dual-currency cards, MFSPs, and PSPs to strengthen formal remittance channels and foreign exchange inflows.
