University of the Incarnate Word

The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is a private, Catholic university with its main campus in San Antonio and Alamo Heights, Texas. Founded in 1881 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, the university's main campus is located on . It is the largest Catholic university in Texas. The university encompasses 11 schools and colleges, 2 campuses in Mexico, a European Study Center, Global Online (a program offering degrees to students in Latin America) as well as a co-educational high school, St. Anthony Catholic High School. History The school was founded by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, who came to San Antonio in 1869 to assist with treating a cholera outbreak.
