Nearly 40,000 Clear Eyes Eye Drops Recalled Nationwide
The FDA-classified voluntary recall of about 39,060 Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief bottles (Lot 2552A, exp Sept. 30, 2027) is due to sterility concerns with nationwide distribution through major retailers; there have been no confirmed contaminations or injuries reported. Prestige Consumer Healthcare initiated the recall via Medtech/Prestige Brand, advising consumers to check for Lot 2552A and the expiration date and to seek refunds, with affected products sold at CVS, Walmart and other retailers across the country.

Naphazoline is a medicine used as a decongestant, and a vasoconstrictor added to eye drops to relieve red eye. It has a rapid action in reducing swelling when applied to mucous membranes. It is a sympathomimetic agent with marked alpha adrenergic activity that acts on alpha-receptors in the arterioles of the conjunctiva to produce constriction, resulting in decreased congestion.
