Two Men Arrested in $100K Cemetery Vase Theft

Two Waldorf men, Trey Mason and David Downing, were arrested in connection with two rounds of stealing over 100 bronze memorial vases from Trinity Memorial Gardens, with detectives recovering all stolen vases before they could be melted and valuing the haul at more than $100,000. The investigation spans multiple agencies and notes Maryland law prohibits scrap dealers from purchasing cemetery bronze; Mason and Downing face theft scheme, destruction of property and fraud charges and are being held without bond as the case proceeds.
