Arizona man arrested after damaging Flock license plate camera | FOX 10 Phoenix

Pinal County Sheriff Ross Teeple announced the department will not renew its contract with Flock Safety automatic license plate reader cameras. The decision comes amid growing scrutiny of license plate reader technology across Arizona. Residents are reacting to the choice, with Sheriff Teeple citing concerns over government overreach and constitutional privacy. Flock Safety says its cameras capture still images of vehicles and license plates in public, but cannot track people or identify drivers. The company works with around 60 agencies in Arizona and states that its customers own and control the data. Meanwhile, Chandler also announced it will discontinue using 40 Flock cameras as scrutiny grows. One resident, Ed Kahle, says he was arrested and faces a felony criminal damage charge after using his work truck to bend a camera toward the sky in protest. Kahle, a father of three and small business owner, calls the technology an invasion of privacy. Other residents expressed mixed views, ranging from privacy concerns to support for crime prevention.
