Tennessee Teen Tackles Middle School Player, Charged
A 16-year-old girl in Tennessee ran onto the field during a Franklin County High School game between South Middle and Cornersville Middle, tackled a South player after a sideline scuffle, and prompted officials to end the game early. She was charged by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office with assault and disorderly conduct, and released to her parents. The incident led to a lifetime ban from Franklin County Schools properties and a one-year ban from Cornersville home and away games by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association. Officials and school staff, with a school resource officer, aided the response as the teen left the field. Authorities say the case will move through the juvenile justice system, with emphasis on rehabilitation options. No injuries were reported.
