Tennessee No. 24 Defeats South Alabama 2-0
Across several college women's soccer programs, the 2026 season began with notable individual performances and early-season momentum. SIUE saw Claire Nieroda participate in all five goals over two wins, scoring on a penalty and assisting three times, while teammate Casey Kittridge anchored EIU’s backline in shutouts to start the season. Eastern Illinois also highlighted Ella Kratochvil’s back-to-back shutouts, moving her into a top-3 all-time career shutout list; Southeast Missouri’s Natalie Allison earned a shutout with three saves in a 1-0 win, and UT Martin’s Alex Weihs delivered a game-winning goal in Chicago. Tennessee, ranked No. 24, posted a 2-0 win over South Alabama, with Ayva Jordan and Devin Davis scoring their first collegiate goals to secure the team’s first clean sheet of the season. Additional action included a University of Massachusetts Lowell box score detailing goals by Hertz-Saebbo and assists from Sage, Marissa, and Nora, and coverage of Air Force’s season opener image from a game against Army. The season’s early results reflect a mix of breakout freshmen, veteran defenses, and tight finishes as teams pursue early conference play.
