Starc 6-12, Australia Lead After Mackay Day 1
Mitchell Starc was again dominant in Mackay, taking 6-12 as Bangladesh were dismissed for 64 on the opening day. Starc became the first bowler to take four first-ball wickets in Test history and added to a tally that includes nine first-over wickets, the most by any bowler. He also produced a five-wicket burst inside 22 balls and moved past Dale Steyn on the all-time wicket tally. Bangladesh’s Shoriful Islam mirrored Starc by taking six wickets in the opening innings, matching the day’s carnage as 18 wickets fell on the first day. Australia built a 101-run lead after Bangladesh’s collapse, continuing a sharp recovery after a shock defeat in Darwin. Shadman Islam was dismissed by Starc with the very first ball of the match, one of several early wickets in the contest.
