FairSquare pushes Infantino ineligible for fourth term
FairSquare has urged FIFA to deem Gianni Infantino ineligible for a fourth term, arguing the three-term limit should apply and that the 2016–2019 period may not have been properly counted, with the dispute tied to FIFA’s 2022 decision to discount Infantino's first term. Infantino remains the sole declared candidate for the 2027–31 cycle, with the FIFA Congress scheduled for March in Morocco. UEFA, AFC and Concacaf criticisms persist amid controversy over plans to privatize World Cup rights and attract private investment, which were eventually shelved after protests. FairSquare has gained support from the Norwegian Football Federation and other bodies, intensifying pressure ahead of next year’s election.
