Sabally Misses Germany World Cup, Concussion
Satou Sabally has announced she will miss Germany’s FIBA Women's World Cup in Berlin due to lingering effects from a second head injury within a year, choosing health and full recovery over competing at home. The Liberty forward, who signed a two-year contract this offseason, has not played since a concussion on June 23, adding to the earlier concussion suffered during the 2025 WNBA Finals. Coaches and team officials indicate Sabally remains in concussion recovery and there is no timeline for her return to basketball with the Liberty. Germany’s centerpiece is unable to participate this year, leaving Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally as part of a roster still navigating injuries. Sabally expressed gratitude for the support from fans and emphasized she will be with the team in spirit while sidelined. The World Cup is scheduled for September in Berlin, with Sabally’s absence leaving Germany to rely on other players as she continues her rehabilitation.
