Pony.ai Expands Overseas Robotaxi Fleet to 4,000
Pony.ai reported strong Q2 2026 results with total revenue up 68.8% to $36.2 million and robotaxi services revenue surging 691.2%, while expanding its overseas robotaxi pipeline to more than 4,000 vehicles and aiming to exceed its full-year robotaxi revenue target. The company highlighted rapid fleet growth in China, with about 1,975 Robotaxi vehicles and growing Uber-backed international deployments that push total negotiated and prospective vehicles beyond 4,000 overseas. Europe is in the spotlight as Pony.ai eyes more than 2,000 robotaxis there, supported by an Uber partnership that accelerates market entry but still faces questions about demand, unit economics, and long-term profitability. London’s regulatory and safety landscape is testing the rollout of robotaxi services, as Wayve’s Ford Mustang Mach-E with a driver present receives Private Hire Vehicle licenses and potential future driverless operations await additional approvals. Separately, Uber and Pony.ai announced an expanded partnership to deploy over 2,000 Level 4 robotaxis across Europe and the Middle East, signaling a broad, multi-region push that investors will scrutinize for trip volumes and real-world economics beyond ambitious headline deployments.
