LIV Golf ends season early, cancels Michigan event
LIV Golf has canceled its Michigan team championship and will end its season with a final event in Indianapolis this week to crown both individual and team champions. The move, announced after the Saudi-backed fund indicated it would withdraw further investments, signals LIV’s shift toward a new investor-led model for a reimagined league in 2027. Jon Rahm has already secured the individual season title, while the remaining top-three positions and the team title will be decided at the Indianapolis Championship. Ticket refunds will be issued for the Michigan event, and the Indiana entertainment lineup has been scrubbed as part of the schedule change. LIV CEO Scott O’Neil framed the decision as a pivot to a sustainable, player-owned league built for growth in key markets, with a shortened 12-event schedule being the shortest since the league’s 2022 launch.
