Guardians rout Giants as Adell hits 455-foot homer
Jo Adell delivered a career night for the Cleveland Guardians, driving in a career-high six runs and hitting a 455-foot three-run homer that was the longest by a Cleveland hitter this season in an 8-1 win over the San Francisco Giants at Progressive Field on Aug. 18. He also added a second-inning RBI single and later a third-inning RBI double, contributing to what manager Stephen Vogt called a string of quality at-bats. Adell’s power was on full display as the homer landed in the left-field bleachers, a feat that briefly surpassed his own previous longest homer and was noted as the longest at Progressive Field since 2024. Late in the game, Adell fouled a pitch off his left knee, left the contest with a bruised knee, and was scheduled for evaluation, though his six-RBI performance stood out as the night’s highlight. Guardians teammates and Giants manager Tony Vitello acknowledged the level of contact and impact Adell provided, even as Cleveland navigated an injury scare. The win marked a strong showing for Adell since being acquired at the trade deadline, with multiple outlets highlighting the performance and its significance for his role with the club.
