Shelley Fabares Dies at 82
Shelley Fabares, 82, died Saturday in Los Angeles with no cause disclosed. She rose to fame as Mary Stone on The Donna Reed Show (1958–1963) and later starred on One Day at a Time, Brian’s Song, and Coach. As a singer, she scored a No. 1 hit with Johnny Angel and appeared opposite Elvis Presley in three films: Girl Happy, Spinout, and Clambake. In 1989 she joined Coach as Christine Armstrong, earning Primetime Emmy nominations for supporting actress. She was married to M*A*S*H actor Mike Farrell since 1984, and her family lauded her warmth, generosity, and ability to make people feel welcomed. After liver transplant in 2000, she continued selective work, including voice roles in Superman: The Animated Series.
