Back-to-School Season Expands Across Districts Nationwide
Across districts and schools, the 2026-27 year kicked off with renewed planning, orientation, and a focus on student success. In Oyster Bay-East Norwich, the Board is restructuring the central office and redistributing responsibilities without filling the executive director role, while adding curriculum-focused positions to support teachers and students as the year begins. The district is also preparing for the new year with campus upgrades and transition programs, including a Common App Bootcamp for rising seniors and Giving Day activities for younger students. The Haliwa-Saponi Tribal School began Convocation Week with IT standards discussions and exploration of artificial intelligence, signaling a tech-forward approach to education. In Washburn Rural High School, the first full assembly underscored community involvement and student leadership as part of the yearly kickoff. Separately, in Mississippi, families are encouraged to plan early for education costs using MACS and MPACT, with recent fee reductions and an upcom-ing MPACT enrollment period, highlighting ongoing affordability options for college and career training.
