Toyota Camry Instrument Cluster Recall Expanded

Toyota is recalling about 655,000 Camrys worldwide due to a software issue in the 7-inch instrument cluster display that can go blank at startup, potentially disabling turn signals, hazard lights, and several warning buzzers such as seat-belt reminders and the “key left in ignition” alert. In the United States, about 508,354 affected vehicles are 2025-2026 Camry Hybrids, with the recall covering models built between December 2023 and July 2026 across plants in the US, Japan, and Thailand. The defect raises crash risk because other road users and drivers may not see warnings or indicators when turning or hazards are present. Toyota says the fix is a free software update administered by dealers, and owner notification letters are slated to begin September 21, with a complete mailing by early October. The XLE and XSE trims, which use a larger 12.3-inch display, are not affected by this recall. The recall spans multiple regions, including North America, the Middle East, and Asia, and customers are urged to check recall status with Toyota or the NHTSA.
