Argentina Economy Grows 2.7% in June
Argentina's economy grew 2.7% year-on-year in June 2026, with May revised up and the EMAE up 0.8% from May on a seasonally adjusted basis, signaling broader momentum. Twelve of the fifteen sectors posted annual gains, led by fishing and mining and quarrying, with mining driving much of the annual improvement. Several sectors declined, including public administration, defense and compulsory social security, electricity, gas and water, and education, tempering overall growth. The trend-cycle component also rose 0.2%, reinforcing the sense of sustained momentum beyond monthly fluctuations. In July, the trade balance posted a surplus of $2,115 million, beating expectations on stronger agricultural exports and softer energy imports. Analysts caution that a single strong month does not establish a lasting trend and highlight ongoing challenges such as inflation and fiscal deficits despite supportive policy moves under the current administration.
