Anantnag Police Constable Killed; Terrorists Open Fire
A police team was struck by terrorists in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, with the attack occurring around 12:30 pm at Lal Chowk. A head constable was injured and later died, while another constable identified as Ashiq Hussain (a resident of Budgam’s Beerwah) succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital. Security forces sealed off the area and launched a manhunt for the attackers, with heightened security in other parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The assault was claimed by The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba faction, and marked the first militant attack on security personnel in the Kashmir Valley this year. The Amarnath Yatra was ongoing at the time, and authorities are continuing investigations and searches in the wake of the incident.
