AMD Helios Debuts on Azure, Expands Anthropic Deals
AMD unveiled Helios, its first rack-scale AI system, as a bid to challenge Nvidia, with Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI and Oracle among early customers and plans to ship to customers in the second half of 2026 for Azure deployment. Helios combines Instinct MI455X GPUs, Venice CPUs, Pensando networking and ROCm software, and will power frontier-model inference in Azure, with two new Venice-based VM series and expanded Pensando DPUs to scale cloud AI workloads.
