Former accountant jailed for laundering $5.3M

A former Atlanta CPA, Ronald Deabler, was sentenced to four years for laundering $5.3 million stolen from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, with about $4 million recovered, in a case tied to a business email–compromise scheme. Separately, Springfield CPA Ray Leonard Marple was sentenced to 18 months for wire fraud and filing false tax returns related to embezzling $415,481.50 from a family trust and underreporting income, with restitution totaling about $501,692.
