Canada condemns Israel's Lebanon invasion, unveils new aid
Canada, led by Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai, condemned what it calls Israel’s unlawful invasion of Lebanon and urged Beirut’s sovereignty while announcing three new humanitarian programs that lift this year’s aid to Lebanon to over CAD 71 million (about USD 50 million) and noting Canada’s total support over the past decade around CAD 800 million. The UN reports about 360,000 people are displaced from the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, which has killed more than 4,000 and caused widespread destruction in southern Lebanon.
